Backstory:In the not too distant future, a virulent plague threatens civilization and a countdown to full-scale invasion has begun. A heretofore unknown race of Aliens has established a secret colony on the outskirts of your home town. Only after reports of missing persons escalated in the vicinity of their colony did officials discover the scourge. Government intelligence has limited information, but has determined through numerous encounters with the Aliens, that their intentions are purely hostile. The Aliens' sole objective seems to be world domination at the expense of the human population. Countless attempts at destroying the Alien brood have failed. Scientists who have studied the Aliens behavior believe that the colony can best be characterized as a hive. Attempts at destroying the Hive have failed because much like a society of bees, scientists believe a Queen is at the heart of the system. |

The Queen lives. She is too well protected by the single-minded community of Aliens. The Aliens' sole purpose is to perpetuate the species by protecting the Queen and ensuring her continuous production of eggs. Eggs hatch larvae, which are naturally programmed to seek nourishment to survive and mature. Unfortunately, humans are the most plentiful resource to feed hungry new alien larvae. Once gorged on human, the larvae return to the collective to finish their development from larvae to pupa to adult. Adult drones patrol the Hive, protecting and guiding new generations of larvae and eliminating any threats to the Queen. Evidence shows that at maturity, aliens often surface and raid the nearest human population to bring back food for their young and the Queen. Beyond the obvious tragic daily loss of human life, scientists are concerned about the estimated explosion in Alien population. At its current rate, the Hive will be an unstoppable stronghold in a few weeks. At that point, the Aliens will have the power to launch a final invasion and decimate the Earth once and for all. | |

In no uncertain terms, you are the world's last chance for survival. You're the only remaining Alien Special Ops(ASO) veteran trained in extermination and counter-invasion operations. Your ASO comrades have all failed, but their efforts have provided valuable intelligence making you the best prepared ASO Exterminator to date. Your mission: To infiltrate the Hive, exterminate all aliens, rescue any humans left alive, and ultimately destroy the Queen. You carry with you the hope of all humanity. Play begins on the roof of Stoll Chemical, a chemical processing plant that provided the infrastructure for the Hive's construction. Intelligence reports that the Hive extends through all floors of the chemical processing plant and probably through several subterranean levels - newly excavated by the Aliens to secure the Queen. |

Revision History:
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
System Requirements:Invasion was designed to play on the widest variety of Palm OS® compatible devices in use to date. It requires:
Broad compatibility demanded that Invasion graphics be based on 2-bit (4 shades) grayscale displays(supported on all Palm OS® v3.0+ devices). Invasion will run in grayscale mode on both grayscale and color devices. Color graphics may be added to future releases if we receive enough customer requests(take our survey). If a color version is released, registered users of Invasion will be able to upgrade at no cost. Devices that meet Invasion requirements include Palm III series, V series, m100 series, and m500 series devices, Handspring Visor series, IBM Workpad series, HandEra TRGpro, and Sony CLIE series, and other devices that support Palm OS® software v3.0 and higher. *This is an estimate based on the application (Invasion140.prc) plus space for a saved game and the level database(InvasionLevelxx.pdb) being played. The average size of a level database is 25KB, so about 650KB is required to install the application and ALL the databases. This is a convenient option if space is available, but is not required to play Invasion. |
